For information, not a legal commitment. We keep this page up to date as our activities and procedures change. Where the details below affect you directly, write to us and we will explain how they apply in your situation.

1Our Commitment to Accessibility

Girls Achieving Learning & Success Voices (Gals Voices) is committed to making its website accessible, inclusive and usable by people with different abilities, devices and access needs.

We believe that access to information, education, digital learning and opportunities should not be unnecessarily restricted by barriers in website design or content. We aim to improve the experience of all visitors, including people who use assistive technologies or require alternative ways to navigate and understand online information.

2Accessibility Standards

We intend to use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, as a design and evaluation target where appropriate. These guidelines provide recommendations for making web content perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.

Our target is a development goal and should not be interpreted as a claim that the website has already been independently audited or fully conforms to every applicable requirement.

3Accessibility Features

We aim to incorporate features such as:

  • Clear headings and a logical page structure.
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation and interactive controls.
  • Sufficient colour contrast for text and important interface elements.
  • Readable typography and appropriately spaced content.
  • Descriptive labels for forms and clear instructions for correcting errors.
  • Alternative text for meaningful images.
  • Captions or transcripts for relevant audio and video content where feasible.
  • Links with meaningful descriptions.
  • Responsive layouts for mobile phones, tablets and desktop devices.
  • Compatibility with commonly used screen readers and browser accessibility features.
  • Clear feedback after form submissions and other important actions.

We will aim to avoid using colour, sound, images or visual cues as the only way to communicate essential information.

4Website Content and Documents

We aim to publish website content in clear language and accessible formats wherever reasonably possible. When sharing downloadable documents, learning materials or other resources, we will work towards providing accessible versions where feasible.

Some third-party documents, videos, platforms or external services may not meet the same accessibility standards. Where practical, we will identify limitations or offer an alternative way to access important information.

5Known Limitations

Accessibility is an ongoing process, and some parts of the website may not yet meet our intended standards. Potential barriers may arise from older documents, third-party services, embedded content, multimedia without suitable alternatives or features that have not been fully tested.

As the website develops, we will work to identify and address significant barriers. Any specific known limitations should be documented here once the website has been assessed.

6Feedback and Reporting Accessibility Barriers

We welcome feedback from visitors who encounter accessibility difficulties. If you cannot access a page, use a form, navigate the website or understand information provided online, please contact us and describe the difficulty you experienced.

Where possible, include the relevant page address, the device or browser being used and the type of assistance or alternative format you need. You do not need to disclose a medical diagnosis to report an accessibility barrier. We will review feedback and make reasonable efforts to respond and identify suitable solutions.

7Ongoing Improvements

We aim to review accessibility as part of website development, content publishing and future improvements. Our efforts may include manual testing, keyboard navigation checks, automated accessibility testing, assistive-technology testing and feedback from people with different access needs.

Automated testing alone cannot establish full accessibility. We will aim to combine appropriate testing methods and prioritise barriers that prevent people from accessing essential information or services.

8Review of This Statement

This statement will be reviewed periodically and updated as accessibility features, testing results and website capabilities change. The review date will be updated whenever a substantive review is completed.
